VOFG CI IS LOOKING FOR an indigenous educator (canada) to support call for indigenous child author 2025

Position: Consultant - Indigenous Educator

Location: Remote, with occasional in-person activities

Hours: Up to 15 hours per week (flexible)

Duration: 12-month Project

Overview:

The Voices of Future Generations Children’s Initiative is seeking a passionate and dedicated Indigenous educator to support a creative writing contest aimed at Indigenous children across Canada. We are looking for an individual with significant connections to educators and/or organizations serving Indigenous children and youth to help with outreach and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Outreach and Engagement: Promote the contest to Indigenous children, families, and educators, aiming to generate a robust number of submissions.

  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, organizations, and community groups that work with Indigenous children and youth.

  • Resource Development: Assist in creating culturally relevant educational resources, such as documents, videos, and online workshops, to guide children through the submission process.

  • Event Support: Assist in creating culturally relevant educational resources, such as documents, videos, and online workshops, to guide children through the submission process.

  • Additional Project Activities: Assist with various project-related tasks as needed to ensure successful implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit.

  • Strong background in education or significant connections with educators across Canada.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, Indigenous children and youth is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
